In the Western world in the 21st century, having food to eat is not a problem for most.  In fact, quite the opposite – we have countless supermarkets and restaurants offering food from every corner of the globe – the choices are endless.  However, the nutritional and ethical value of the food we eat is often questionable.  By trying to ‘eat green’ I’m considering …

The choices I’m making to ‘eat green’ are:

Grow My Own Veg

Reasons:

  • Organic
  • Fresh = nutrient rich
  • No air miles
  • Connects me with nature
  • No preservatives or additives

Plant-based Diet 

Reasons:

  • Environmental benefits 
  • Health benefits
  • Don’t particularly like meat
  • Don’t want to eat animals

Eating ‘Real Food’

Reasons:

  • Wholefood is nutrient rich
  • Wholefood supports a healthy body
  • Preservatives are often chemicals which are not good for you

Foraging 

Reasons:

  • Seasonal
  • Local
  • Free
  • Food you can’t buy in shops
  • Connects me with nature
